Leesburg's Town Council is reviewing proposed changes to the town's noise ordinance.

The changes will create a "decibel standard" for commercial areas. There would also be new rules about crowd noise — the current standards apply to mechanical noise.

See the town's noise ordinance update page for all the information.

The Washington Post published opinions from several area residents, including David Groy, who recently asked the council, “Would you want, on Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday and Sunday, to have someone pick the music you . . . listen to? You want to sit out on your patio or your porch, and that’s what you have to listen to. You have no control over it, none.”

Meanwhile, musician Payson Van Orden noted there is obvious support for the Leesburg music scene. “We are not playing music or performing our art for empty houses," he said.

What about the neighbors with dogs that bark constantly? I've had to quote the noise ordinance to the officers to even get them to come to my house. And they have told me multiple times that they'd have to stay and observe for 15 mins. And that "none of the officers will ever do that". Think I'm overreacting? 9 North St NE, leesburg va 20176
