Three Loudoun County high schools ranked among the top in the state and were included in the top 400 in the country, according to 2014 rankings by U.S. News & World Report.

The rankings were based on evaluations of data from more than 19,000 schools across the United States. Data included information on state proficiency tests, how well minority students were performing compared to state averages, and the success of the school’s Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) programs. U.S. News teamed up with the D.C.-based American Institutes for Research to analyze the data.

Loudoun Valley High School ranked No. 14 in the state and No. 316 in the country.

Dominion High School ranked No. 15 in the state and No. 326 in the country.

And Potomac Falls High School ranked No. 18 in the state and No. 387 in the country.

The regional Thomas Jefferson High School For Science and Technology, ranked No. 4 in the nation. Thomas Jefferson includes students from Loudoun County.
