The Adventures of Huckleberry the Hound in Leesburg

Introducing Huckleberry, a dog who loves adventure, and his latest journey of adjusting to the civilized life in Downtown Leesburg.

Huckleberry is a one and a half year old Australian Cattle Dog/Hound mix that we rescued from the Augusta Regional SPCA.  We currently live in Downtown Leesburg, just a stone's throw away from the Courthouse.

Huck sure has brought some excitement to our neighborhood!  Our neighbors love (and maybe laugh a little...) when he comes out in the winter time in his sweaters that I knit him, and sometimes with a trash bag over his back when it rains hard. (Huckleberry has made it known that he is NOT a water dog!)

Adopting Huckleberry was one of the best choices I have made as an adult.  We were told to please only adopt him if we wanted him, because he had been returned twice already- so his third strike would cause him to be put to sleep.  We jumped to the challenge and have been greatly rewarded!

Huck has excelled at most of the things we have tried to teach him.  He loves to show off his tricks, especially his "Dead Dog".  He shakes hands with everyone he meets and will shamelessly steal food from unsuspecting children.  Come to think of it- he does really love kids.  Maybe this is why?

I started blogging about Huckleberry just recently, after getting a ton of feedback from the pictures I post on my Facebook. I created a website to help catalog Huckleberry's life at www.whogivesahuck.com. Huck is everlastingly patient and allows himself to be draped in all types of costumes.  He loves the attention and the treats!

Now that I have introduced Huckleberry- how about a picture or two?
