Basics of International Trade

Are there export opportunities for small businesses?
Consider this:  95% of the world’s population is outside of the United States. This population represents 70% of the world’s purchasing power. Small and medium-sized exporters accomplish about 97% of all U.S. exports. In 2011, total U.S. exports of goods and services reached a record $2.10 trillion.

Export specialists will review:

  • Exporting and export licensing requirements (overview)
  • How to find overseas markets and make contacts
  • Methods and channels for exporting
  • Shipping your product
  • How to get paid
  • Using a customs broker/freight forwarder and the fees involved
  • Basic information on import requirements
