On Wednesday, 22 teachers from Loudoun County Public Schools and Prince William County Schools toured Washington Dulles International Airport as part of the Teachers in Industry project.

Five of the Loudoun teachers returned to Dulles for four additional days of in-depth, behind-the-scenes experiences in baggage processing, airport operations, environmental controls, maintenance operations and more, according to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.

Dulles Airport is a founding partner of the George Washington University Teachers in Industry Project, an initiative to provide middle and high school core content teachers the opportunity to experience firsthand the work environment for which they are preparing their students through externships at top regional businesses. These externships allow teachers in the areas of English, math, science and social studies to become aware of the core knowledge and skills needed to be successful in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics- focused workforce.
