New Photography Exhibit Opens at Leesburg Executive Airport

The exhibit features 13 photographs that were taken by students from the Art Institute of Washington-Northern Virginia.

A new photography exhibit is on display in the Stanley Caulkins Terminal Building at the Leesburg Executive Airport. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held last week and was officiated by Mayor Kristen Umstattd.

In 2011, the Commission on Public Art received a grant from the Town Council for the installation of a semi-permanent photography display at the airport. Photography students from the Art Institute of Washington-Northern Virginia conducted a photo shoot of airplanes, hangers and runways and submitted them to the commission for consideration.

Thirteen photographs were selected and have been hung in the third floor hallway outside the airport administration office. The new exhibit can be viewed during the airport administration office’s normal business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The photographs selected for display include works by students Billy Morgan, John Phan, Jen Cubas, Troy Sherman, Kim Ly and Paris Brody. The students were under the direction of instructors Susan Serafin and Xang Mimi Ho.
