Two People Shot and Killed at Virginia Tech

A university police officer was fatally shot during a traffic stop and a second person was found shot nearby.

 

Two people are dead this afternoon after a police officer was shot during a routine traffic stop on the Virginia Tech campus. A second person was found slain in a nearby parking.

Today's shooting took place on the same day that officials were appealing a $55,000 fine in connection with the response to the 2007 rampage when 32 people were killed in Blacksburg.

According to reports, classes were not held on the campus today as students prepared for final exams, that were scheduled to begin tomorrow. Nearby schools continued to be on lockdown as of 3:30 p.m.

It's been reported that the gunman is still on the loose. The suspect is described as a white male, wearing gray sweat pants, a maroon hoodie, a gray hat with a neon brim and was seen carrying a backpack.
