Catch Some Baseball Over the Holiday Weekend

Enjoy America's favorite pastime this Fourth of July with this map of baseball games in Northern Virginia.

As Loudoun and Northern Virginia prepare to celebrate Independence Day, there are plenty of opportunities to get out to some ball games over the long holiday weekend.

The Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League will be holding games all weekend throughout the Baltimore, Washington, Southern Maryland and Northern Virginia area.

The Leesburg Post 34 Rangers take on Manassas Post 158 at 7 p.m. Saturday at Loudoun County High School. Next week, Leesburg plays Post 72 Warrenton at 7 p.m. July 9 at Heritage High School and then Post 53 Front Royal the following night, also at 7 p.m. at Heritage.

The Ashburn Post 2001 Knights defeated Winchester Post 21 Tuesday night 6-4 to give the team a 4-0-1 record for the season. The team heads to Stafford for a doubleheader Saturday against the Americans of Post 290.

In Vienna, the Vienna Riverdogs will host games Friday through Sunday at James Madison High School, with all three games beginning at 7 p.m. 

The Herndon Braves have home games Friday and Sunday evenings, both beginning at 7 p.m. from Herndon High School, and the Alexandria Aces will play a home game Sunday at 4 p.m. at Frank Mann Field in Alexandria.

Teams from Baltimore, Bethesda, Gaithersburg, Presstman, Rockville, Takoma and the District of Columbia will all be competing in league action this weekend. To see a full schedule of this weekend's games, click here and view the map above to see which fields will be closest to you this weekend.

And if you're looking for the big-leagues, the Washington Nationals will host four games this holiday weekend at Nationals Park in Washington, DC. Thursday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers will have a special start time of 11:05 a.m. in honor of the holiday. The Nationals will then welcome the San Diego Padres to town for a three-game set. Friday's game will begin at 7:05 p.m., Saturday the action begins at 4:05 p.m., and first pitch for Sunday's finale is slated for 1:35 p.m.

The Potomac Nationals, a Class A minor league affiliate of the Nationals, will also host four games this weekend at Pfitzner Stadium in Woodbridge. The "P-Nats" will open a four-game series with the Wilmington Blue Rocks at 6:35 p.m. Thursday. There will be a Fourth of July fireworks show following the game. Friday and Saturday's games will also begin at 6:35, while Sunday's finale will begin a bit earlier at 6:05 p.m.
