Leesburg Awaits News About Its Boston Marathon Participants

Explosions at the popular annual race killed three and injured 144 at last count.

Leesburg continues to await updates about 12 runners from the town who were scheduled to participate in Monday’s Boston Marathon, where explosions ended the annual race early.

Eight of Leesburg runners managed to finish the marathon before the explosions struck, according to the Boston Marathon’s website.

The 117th Boston Marathon began with 26 seconds of silence to honor Sandy Hook victims and about three hours after the first runners finished up, there two explosions near the finish line.

At least three people were killed and another 189 injured, according to CNN.

Initial reports indicated additional explosive devices had been found, but updates from multiple media outlets have since reported that those other suspicious were not explosives.
