Summer ends but football begins; the bottle is half full

Leesburg's Chris Cooley won't join the Redskins at their first preseason game at 7:30 p.m. tonight against the Pittsburg Steelers due to a knee injury.

The Washington Redskins open preseason play tonight at 7:30 p.m. as they take on the Pittsburg Steelers at FedEx Field.

Tight end and won't start tonight, according to head coach Mike Shanahan. Cooley continues to be slowed by knee soreness, Shanahan said.

Cooley is entering his eighth season with the Redskins, but sat out Wednesday’s training camp practice at Redskins Park. “There is concern,” Shanahan said. “The knee is sore, but hopefully it keeps on getting better.”
