Release, Town of Leesburg:

The Town of Leesburg’s 24th annual 4th of July Parade was held Friday, July 4, 2014, through historic Leesburg. Under perfect blue skies, spectators of all ages filled King Street to see patriotic floats, animals, classic cars and more.

This year’s parade featured the 7th annual Patriot Cup competition, sponsored by Leesburg Today. The 2014 Patriot Cup winner is ArtSquare. Located at the Shops at Dodona Manor in Leesburg, ArtSquare is the home of the Loudoun Academy of the Arts Foundation, the premier organization in Loudoun dedicated to supporting the visual arts, fostering emerging and professional artists and bringing art to our growing community through classes, workshops, seminars and special events. This competitive category is awarded to the top patriotic entry, with the winner’s names to be engraved onto the Patriot Cup. The Cup will be on display at the Leesburg Town Hall.

With fantastic weather, the evening concert and fireworks at Ida Lee Park drew tremendous crowds, with 30,000 in estimated attendance in and around the park vicinity. With a variety of food vendors on-hand, live entertainment by the Breakfast Club as well as the largest fireworks show in Northern Virginia, the event drew visitors from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Maryland as well as locals to enjoy the evening celebration.
