Community Corner

The Great Escape

In this week's edition of The Great Escape, we give you family fun for a good cause.

In 2000, 4-year-old cancer patient started a lemonade stand with the goal of raising money to help find a cure for childhood cancer. Now, 11 years later, her community is continuing her legacy by hosting a lemonade stand of their own.

This Saturday, you can visit Alex's Lemonade Stand on McClellan Way in Sterling and help keep her dream alive. In addition to lemonade, the all-day event will feature a dunk tank, face painting, live music a raffle and a car wash.

The foundation has an ambitious fundraising goal of $10,001, but hopes that with community support they can reach it.

With school starting back up in just a few weeks, why not take the kids out for a fun activity before the grind of the school year begins again? Even if you don't have kids, live music and a car wash for a good cause can't be beat.

Come out this weekend and help Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation reach their goal and do your part to help eradicate childhood cancer.
