Loudoun Weather Decisions: Get Info on Schools, Special Election, Chamber Luncheon

UPDATE (2:41 p.m.): All Loudoun County evening activities are canceled. However, all polling places will remain open during the special election.

UPDATE: The Loudoun County School Board has postponed its budget work session and public hearing planned tonight. The work session and public hearing will now be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the School Administrative Offices, 21000 Education Court, Ashburn. The School Board work sessions scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 22nd, and Thursday, January 23rd, are now on as scheduled.

Some early decisions have been made in Loudoun in light of forecasts of snow Tuesday, Jan. 21.

For starters, the Virginia 33rd Senate District special election will go forward, regardless of any foul weather; however officials in Loudoun are encouraging voters to head to the polls early to avoid the worst of the weather.

Loudoun County Public Schools and administrative offices will be CLOSED.

Loudoun County government offices are OPEN.

Federal offices in the area are CLOSED.

The Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce, on the other hand, has decided to POSTPONE its 2014 Annual Meeting and Community Leadership Awards to a date not yet determined.

Snow is expected to start falling mid- to late morning in Loudoun. And while there may be a break at some point, heavier snow is expected later in the day.
