A community wide yard sale takes over Ashburn Village on Saturday. The event will include a variety of items and various addresses. 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Ashburn Village Sports Pavilion, 20585 Ashburn Village Blvd., Ashburn.
StageCoach Theatre Company presents Little Red on Saturday. This production offers a “kinder, gentler version” of the classic “Little Red Riding Hood.” $10, $12 for adults. 1 p.m. Oatlands, 20850 Oatlands Plantation Lane, Leesburg.

Leesburg gets out on the town for the First Friday festivities. There will be more than 40 performances, open house opportunities and demonstrations at downtown businesses, including the free Last Ham Standing improvisational experience at Sona Bank. Various start times, beginning at 6 p.m. At locations throughout downtown Leesburg.
Morven Park hosts an old fashioned barn dance on Saturday. “Wear your boots and jeans, and be ready to dance up a storm,” says organizers. Local bluegrass band Bud’s Collective will perform, with hors d’oeuvres, wine beer and soda on hand. $40. 7:30 p.m. Morven Park, 17263 Southern Planter Lane, Leesburg.The Wolf Trap hosts a live musical accompaniment to “The Lord of the Rings” in screenings on Friday and Saturday. It’s a chance to see Frodo’s epic journey out of the Shire, with a new twist. The performance includes a high-definition presentation of the film, with a full orchestra, chorus and soloists. From $25. 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Filene Center, 1645 Trap Road, Vienna.
