Classical Music Concert Series at the Old Stone School Receives Standing Ovation

Grace Srinivasan and Neil Weston's "Summer Music for Soprano" concert brought the house down Sunday, July 20 at the McNair Auditorium in Hillsboro's Old Stone School.

Grace Srinivasan and Neil Weston’s “Summer Music for Soprano” concert received a standing ovation Sunday, July 20 at the McNair Auditorium in Hillsboro’s Old Stone School. 

The first half of the concert was dedicated to music composed by Vivaldi, Purcell, Handel, Mozart, Brahms, Strauss, and Faure. After a short intermission, the duet performed songs from classic musicals including The Sound of Music, The Phantom of the Opera, and Les Miserables.

Srinivasan is a soprano and actress from the Washington, D.C. area who is working on her Masters in Music at Peabody University. Weston is the Director of Music at St. Stephen Martyr Catholic Church. Weston is directing three other concerts as a four-part series, including:

  • Autumnal Tones for Baritone - Sunday, Sept. 7

  • Christmas Through the Ages - Sunday, Dec. 21 

Food and wine provided by It’s a Piece of Cake and North Gate Vineyard are sold at each concert. Ticket prices are as follows:

  • $25 - at the door
  • $22 - in advance
  • $15 - seniors
  • $10 - students
  • Free - children 12 and under

The series is presented by nonprofit Hillsboro Community Association (HCA) and the Town of Hillsboro to benefit the ongoing restoration efforts at the Old Stone School. Together, they hope to raise $400,000 in funds to restore and renovate the Old Stone School.
