Run, Then Eat: Crossroads UMC hosts the Ashburn Farm 10k/5k/2k on Thanksgiving Day Race. Proceeds support programs for children in Uganda, Africa. $35 (2k, $17). 8:15 a.m., Thursday, 43454 Crossroads Drive, Ashburn.

Lighting Up Black Friday:
The holidays kick off with the Village of Leesburg Tree Lighting Ceremony. Activities include horse-drawn carriage rides, carolers, a stilt-walker toy soldier, holiday music and more. Free. Santa arrives at 3 p.m., with the tree lighting at 5 p.m. Friday. Village at Leesburg, 1602 Village Market Blvd. SE, Leesburg.

Bright Lights, Big Holiday: Meadowlark’s annual Winter Walk of Lights display includes over 500,000 LED lights. $12, adults. $7, children. 5:30 p.m. Through Jan. 5. Meadowlark Botanical Gardens, 9750 Meadowlark Gardens Court, Vienna.

Walk, Don't Run: Walk the short hill (all of 868 feet) at the Walk Off Your Wobble event at 868 Estate Vineyards. There will be a free box of chocolate truffles at the bottom of the hill as your reward. Free. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. 868 Estate Vineyards, 14001 Harpers Ferry Road, Purcellville.

Fast Times at NOVA: Students and alumni will participate in the second annual "Play-in-a-Day" at Northern Virginia Community College's Loudoun Campus. Participants are divided up into groups to perform short plays on the holiday of their choice. The final performance is open to the public. Free. 7 p.m. Sunday. Waddell Theater, Northern Virginia Community College, 1000 Harry Flood Byrd Highway, Sterling.
