If there are no candidates as strong as Dr. Hatrick I guess we should just leave the position open,…Read More right Mr. Howard. The good Doctor has been here so long that he should have maxed out on the pay scale for School Superintendents and anyone who replaces him should be a bargain.
The voice of the Chamber of Commerce is a tool for developers every sentence he utters should be vetted.

There are good teachers, even great ones AND then there is Mr. Duffy - 5th grade teacher @Waples…Read More Mill!!! Don't know where to start BUT first and foremost is his knowledge & passion for teaching. He is serious about spreading the word - - of SCIENCE, that is!!! The building cannot contain his enthusiasm or platform for teaching. One simple motto engages the children every year: TAKE IT OUTSIDE.
Fabulous person as well!! Knows how to stimulate interest in topics and esp. reading!!! Hands down, TEACHER OF THE YEAR!!!

There are so many great teachers, its hard to pick only one. I'd like to tell you about Shabana Syed…Read More at the Herndon Montessori School.
When you first meet Shabana its a little difficult to figure what to make of her, as she is all at once a Mom, a Teacher, an Administrator, and an avid Advocate for children-- in whatever order is appropriate for the moment! In talking to her, her warmth and caring concern simply radiates from her-- that is, when she's not busy fluttering around the room checking up on her students, interacting with other teachers and parents, answering her email and putting out the daily class newsletter-- or any of the other myriad things she does-- seemingly all at once! And yet she always has a moment for a quick chat, or to address a problem or concern raised in any quarter-- at HMS, she is definitely in her element and in full command of her space, and she runs a tight ship.
This is the end of our first year at Herndon Montessori School, though it most certainly will not be our last. Our boys have grown and blossomed under the strong leadership and warm, friendly manner that Shabana and all of the teachers provide to our kids on a daily basis. They are well-mannered and very well behaved, they are both actively engaged in learning and drinking in the world around them. And while they have both had a number of good teachers and adult influences, I'd like to single out Shabana Syed as one of the bright lights on their horizon!
Thank you Shabana!

Dear Mrs. Solomon - if you're out there - thank you for helping me find my path! I don't even know…Read More your first name, because back in 1975-ish teachers didn't have first names, at least not that students ever knew. You were my 6th grade teacher at Hunters Woods ES and instead of yelling at me for writing poetry (when I probably should have been doing math) and surruptitiously reading books under the table, you encouraged my love of literature and even fought for me to be admitted to a GT program. HUGE turning point in my life, though I doubt you ever knew it. Now I'm an English teacher too, hoping that one day I may impact some student's life the way you impacted mine. So many thanks ...!

When news media publicize such a serious incident, they are obligated to follow up on the story.…Read More The question of the teacher's BAC is crucial to this arrest. If the is insufficient evidence to convict this man, if he is innocent of this charge, how can he ever recover his reputation in the Loudoun community? Dusty Smith and Todd Richissin now have a heavy journalistic responsibility to keep their readers informed.
