Jazz It Up for Messiah's Market

Loudoun Symphony concert benefits The Community Church's food bank.

The Loudoun Symphony Orchestra will perform a benefit concert, Jazz It Up, at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 14, to help support the Messiah’s Market Food Bank Project. Messiah’s Market, operated by The Community Church in Ashburn, has offered free food to anyone in need for more than a decade. The organization plans to expand its facilities, which would enable its volunteers to offer fresh meat and refrigerated food, which equate to better nutritional choices for families in need. The church has the orchestra to use its auditorium at the Virginia Academy this season. Kids of all ages rocked out to the Junior Jam

The second annual Jingle Jam kicked off their shows this weekend with the Junior Jam, a show for the youngest holiday lovers.

 Toddlers abounded at Tally Ho Theatre on Saturday morning for the first ever Junior Jam. Families watched the Leesburg holiday parade and then went to Tally Ho for a half-an-hour of acoustic holiday songs. Junior Jam is part of the Jingle Jam, a benefit concert geared toward older children and adults. Jingle Jam co-founder Stilson Greene saw the need for a show geared toward their younger audience, saying of last year's Jingle Jam, "It's rock. It's a little too much for toddlers," he said. "People seemed to want kid stuff, and a half-hour acoustic show isn't too much for [the kids]."
