Leesburg Kicks Off Holiday Festivities

Christmas Tree and Menorah lighting, First Friday bring out crowds in downtown area.

Downtown Leesburg was bustling Friday night as a special weekend of holiday activities began with the Christmas Tree and Menorah Lighting Ceremony on the Town Green.  The ceremony started with a musical prelude from the Loudoun County High School Chamber Choir.  Mayor Kristen Umstattd welcomed everyone to the event, followed by the Menorah lighting, which was done by Lisa and A.J. Levy. The Loudoun Chorale sang several holiday songs. Then, members of the Town Council read Is there a Santa Claus? Stephanie Swift of the Loudoun County High School Chamber Choir led the community in a "Jingle Bells" sing-a-long.
