Happy Pi Day

March 14 is Pi Day. Are you celebrating with Pi or Pie?

It's National Pi Day! National Pi Day occurs annually on March 14 -  3.14, the first three digits of pi, which is equal to the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. Want to know more? Ask your student - there is a good chance they are marking the day with a Pi contest (or a Pie contest. It's all about the snacks, too) or visit PIDAY.ORG The recognition of Pi Day was actually passed by Congress in 2009.  For those not so mathematically inclined, celebrate Pi with pie, of course. The best places in Leesburg for that: Pizza Pie Pie Pie Did we leave any out any pie places? Tell your neighbors about your favorite in the comments.

Getting Out in Leesburg

Fireworks Pizza

In this edition of Getting Out in Leesburg, I visit Fireworks for some artisan pizza

Everyone always says New York Pizza is the best, and having lived there for a while, I'm hard-pressed to disagree. If you're looking for a slice, you can't beat the quality and the price of New York Pizza. However, Leesburg has a surprisingly large number of great pizza options. I already talked about Andy's Pizza a few weeks ago, and this week I visited Fireworks Pizza. Fireworks is owned by Shawn and Kevin Malone, who own Tuscarora Mill Restaurant and South Street Under. Fireworks is located in Market station along with the two other restaurants, giving diners many different food options. If you're looking for a giant, greasy New York-style pizza, this isn't where you want to go. Fireworks offers wood-fired artisan pizzas that go beyond …

Getting Out in Leesburg

Andy's Pizza & Subs

This week, I tackle one of Leesburg's many pizza places: Andy's Pizza and Subs

Leesburg has no shortage of pizza places. Of course, there are your standard chains, but for a smallish town in Northern Virginia, it has a surprising number of delicious local pizza joints as well. While many restaurants and stores have come and gone since I originally moved here with my family in 1990, many of the pizza places that were in business then are still going strong. One of the restaurants that I've been happy to rediscover is Andy's Pizza and Subs, located at 9 F Catoctin Circle, NW. There are three things that I love about Andy's: the food's cheap, it's delicious, and they deliver. Whenever I'm with the whole family, if we're ordering out, it's usually from Andy's. There are two kinds of pizza places: those that you only …
