Leesburg Fans, Restaurants Mourn Redskins Loss

Customers enjoy food and drink specials, big screen TV viewing, but not a win as the Redskins lost 24-14 to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL playoffs.

Leesburg restaurants, hoping to draw in football fans on Sunday, spent the afternoon preparing for the Redskins' first home playoff game since 1999. They got the fans -- but their team couldn't secure a win, as the Redskins fell at home to the Seattle Seahawks 24-14. The Baltimore Ravens beat the the Indianapolis Colts 24-9 and will head to play the Denver Broncos. And though the Washington Redskins were taking to the field Sunday hoping to finish their day by packing for a trip to Atlanta to play the Falcons next week, now the Seahawks will head to the Georgia Dome instead. Before that, spirits were high in Leesburg. At The Green Turtle, the pregame excitement was building with fans arriving well before kickoff to watch the game on one of…

This month, the guys were invited to come out as well and several restaurants joined in the action.  MacDowell Brew Kitchen offered drink specials, half-price fried pickles, and a deal on their fish and chips meal.  "We are expecting a good crowd, this is the first time we are participating and it is exciting for us," co-owner Nils Schnibbe said. MacDowell is also planning an event Saturday to launch their three new beers:wheat, Christmas pale ale and oak-aged oatmeal style. They are calling it "The Day After the World Ends" party.  The Wine …

I love Zinga...I think it is very clean and the management is incredibly helpful. We asked about a candy that they had put out previously and they actually went in the back and got it for us! They also acted on the suggestion to add more seating and including whip cream as a topping. You can't ask for better customer service....it I can feed all 3 kids for under $6!   more ›

Meatless Mondays, Coming to a Restaurant Near You

The national awareness campaign will launch locally on Monday, May 7.

Meatless Mondays will come to Loudoun County next month when the national campaign makes its Leesburg launch on May 7. According to Sue Sedlazek, who is spearheading the Meatless Mondays campaign in Loudoun County, about a dozen Leesburg restaurants will feature meatless dishes—in addition to their regular offerings—each Monday.
