Leesburg Coffee Shop Owners Close Doors, Open in MD
Shoes Cup and Cork Club owners will focus on new sandwich shop in Frederick, Md.
Shoes Cup and Cork Club, a favorite coffee shop among locals, closed its doors over the Christmas holiday, leaving empty what had become a favorite spot next to Lightfoot Restaurant in downtown Leesburg since it opened there in 2009. But the owners, Ed and Jane Shihadeh, have plans for another store over the river: They're opening a new sandwich shop in Frederick, Md. The shop, called Philly Rabe's, will be located at 241 N. Market St. in Frederick. In a phone interview with Patch, Ed Shihadeh said the new shop will feature Philadelphia old world-style sandwiches, much like the ones he and his wife enjoyed while growing up in the Philadelphia area. When I first started dating my boyfriend we would go there, sit with our coffees, look around and marvel at the history of the place. I later would bring visiting friends there to see the nostalgia of the shoe horns footed at the window seats and the chalkboard walls. Where else in Leesburg could offer this ambience?
