UPDATE: MWAA Police Officer Shot, Wife Charged

A release from the sheriff’s office classified the incident as a ‘domestic in nature.’

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of Friday night shooting in Sterling as Steven Spradling, 52, a member of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department. Investigators have charged Rosangela Spradling, 42, with first-degree murder and are holding her at the Loudoun County jail. The Washington Post reported that Rosangela Spradling is Steven Spradling’s wife. Deputies responded to the 21700 block of Blossom Drive in Sterling after receiving reports around 9 p.m. of a shooting and found Steven Spradling dead at the scene, according to an LCSO report. LCSO: .40 Caliber Handgun Used in Shooting of Sterling Teen

New information reveals that the teen was shot in the left rear shoulder; a separate investigation into how the teens obtained alcohol is underway.

A legally owned .40 caliber handgun was the weapon used in the fatal shooting of Park View High School student Caleb A. Gordley, who had entered a neighbors home around 2:30 a.m. Sunday and reportedly ignored repeated warning to stop, according to new information provided Thursday afternoon by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators are reviewing the case with the Loudoun Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, and no determination is expected before all related information has been reviewed, including the report from the medical examiner’s office. Loudoun Sheriff: Teen's Death a ‘Tragic Situation;’ Commonwealth's Attorney Consulted

Caleb Gordley’s family has still not seen their son's body two days after he was shot by a neighbor who believed him to be an intruder. Sheriff says he's consulting with Loudoun prosecutors in the investigation.

Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman called the shooting death of a teenager a "tragic circumstance" and said Tuesday that he has been consulting with the commonwealth's attorney general about whether charges should be filed against the neighbor who fired the shots. The teen, Caleb Gordley, was shot to death after entering the man’s home at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, apparently after drinking at a party and mistaking the neighbor's house for his own. LCSO IDs Student Shot in Sterling Neighbor's Home

Authorities confirmed that a Park View student was killed after entering a neighbor’s home, apparently by accident.

Original story: The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has identified the Park View High School student who was shot when he, apparently by mistake, entered a neighbor's home as Caleb A. Gordley, 16. The LCSO confirmed early Monday that a student was killed when he entered a neighbor’s home on the 45900 block of Pullman Court in Sterling around 2:30 a.m. March 17. Loudoun Sheriff’s Office IDs Round Hill Shooting Victim

Detectives continue to investigate the incident, but assure residents they are not in danger.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim of a fatal shooting Feb. 28 in Round Hill as town resident Judith Y. Christen, 67. LCSO detectives are investigating the “manner of the victim’s death,” which occurred on the 34900 block of Sunny Ridge Road. The LCSO has stated that there’s no threat to the community. Deputies responded late Thursday morning to the scene after receiving reports of an adult female gunshot victim. All parties involved in the incident remained at the scene.

Fatal Round Hill Shooting Under Investigation

Incident occurred in the Loudoun town west of Purcellville along Route 7.

As of Thursday afternoon, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office had not released the name of a female shooting victim in Round Hill as deputies attempted to contact her next of kin. Most details of the shooting have not yet been released. Shortly before 11 a.m., deputies responded to reports of an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound on the 34900 block of Sunny Ridge Road in Round Hill. By 12:40 p.m., the LCSO reported there was no threat to the public. All parties involved in the incident remained at the scene, according to an LCSO report. Investigators continued working into Thursday evening.

Update: Leesburg Police Continue to Investigate Shooting

A Leesburg man is at large as police continue to search for answers.

Update 4:35 p.m.: Jonathan Alexander Cowden, who was considered at large since Tuesday, turned himself in at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday to detectives of the Leesburg Police Department. He was involved in shooting a firearm at a tow truck driver early Tuesday morning. Cowden is also being charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm and will be taken before the Loudoun County Magistrate for a bond hearing. This is still an active criminal investigation. Flags across Northern Virginia and the rest of the country will be flying at half-mast through Wednesday to honor the victims of the movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colo. The lowering applies to the flags of the United States, individual states, and county and city governments. At the midnight showing of the latest installment of Batman at a Colorado theater on Friday, a 24-year-old man attacked a packed movie theater, killing several people and wounding dozens more. The suspect in the shootings headed to court on Monday and faces several charges of first-degree murder.

LCSO Investigating Gunfire at Great Falls Chase Home

At least one person was struck during the early morning incident on Chippoaks Forest Circle.

A shooting incident in Great Falls Chase remains under investigation by the Loudoun Sheriff’s Office after those involved refused to cooperate. Deputies were called to the 20900 block of Chipoaks Forest Circle around 5 a.m. Aug. 6 and told that an altercation had ended in gunfire, according to an LCSO press release. According to the release, several people were inside the home when someone pulled out a gun, leading to a struggle. The firearm discharged, striking someone, who was taken to Inova Loudoun Hospital in Lansdowne with non-life-threatening injuries. Because the subjects involved in the incident were not cooperating, investigators activated Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team, or SERT, to secure the home where a weapon was recovered…

Sterling Shooting Victim Identified

Two men were shot reportedly during a botched robbery; third individual sought.

Authorities are investigating the possibility that a shooting death that occurred Thursday night in Sterling was the result of a botched home invasion that left one man dead and another seriously injured. Shortly after 8:30 p.m., deputies from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on the 1200 block of E. Kennedy Drive for a report of a suspicious event. Occupants of the home told deputies that two men broke in and attempted to rob them.  One robber was reportedly shot and remained in the residence, while a second man fled, according to a police report.
