Veterans Day Observance at Dodona Manor

The annual event is scheduled to take place at 10:15 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11.

The Town of Leesburg and Loudoun County will join the George C. Marshall International Center Friday in honoring veterans on the grounds of Dodona Manor, the restored home of General Marshall in Leesburg. Among the featured speakers is former Secretary of the Army and former Congressman from Virginia John O. Marsh. He is a Senior Fellow at The Tech Center and a Distinguished Professor at the George Mason University School of Law. The annual Veterans Day observance is co-hosted by the George C. Marshall International Center, the Town of Leesburg and Loudoun County. The Tuscarora High School Symphonic Band and the Loudoun Chorale will be providing music for the event. Ashby Ponds Hears From Its Veterans

Local Retirement Community Pays Tribute to Those Residents Who Served

Thursday morning, Ashburn's Ashby Ponds hosted a Veterans Day event complete with a local 5th grade class singing patriotic songs, a heartfelt tribute to recently passed veterans and a cordial speech from the Executive Director of the Army Corps of Engineers. According to the event's organizer, Frank Thomas, this event helps attendees "gain a greater perspective and understanding of what it takes to keep our nations free." Looking around the room, which was standing-room-only, the camaraderie and pride between these veterans and their supportive wives was tangible.
