Board Agenda: Budget, Ballpark, Metro Parking, Tax Rate

The Loudoun Board of Supervisors have a wide range of topics scheduled Wednesday.

Among the many items on the Loudoun Board of Supervisors’ agenda Wednesday are the county’s budget and tax rate, a proposal to construct a professional sports park at One Loudoun and proposals to construct parking decks at the Metro stations planned in Ashburn. The $2.8 billion county budget and the $1.205 per $100 of assessed value real estate tax that would support it are all but decided. While changes are not off the table, significant changes are unlikely at this point. School advocates and nonprofits pressed for additional funds, but supervisors held firm. NASL Soccer Signs on at One Loudoun

Fans are invited to get involved by helping name the new team, which plans to play at a stadium at One Loudoun.

As last week’s election weighed heavy on the minds of many in Loudoun, and across the county, soccer enthusiasts here redirected their focus as several partners gathered in Leesburg to celebrate the North American Soccer League’s planned expansion with a county-based team. The news first came shortly before the Loudoun Hounds announced plans to move the team’s proposed baseball stadium, which the NASL team plans to share, from Kincora to One Loudoun. That stadium must still win land use approvals. “The NASL has a long and glorious tradition as a quality professional league and we are proud to join them in 2014,” said Bob Farren, chairman and founder of VIP Sports & Entertainment, the entity bringing the Hounds to Loudoun, in a press …

Loudoun’s future professional baseball team watches as 2012 first pitch slips away.

While backs were patted and obligatory shovelfuls of dirt were turned by elected officials Oct. 19, marking the start of construction on key roads in the Kincora development, a few people who have been anxiously awaiting the day stood at the back of the tent nearing the realization that their dreams – and those of numerous Loudoun residents – would have to wait another year. The minor league Loudoun Hounds officially announced two days later what some had begun to guess – the team would have to wait until 2013 to throw its first pitch.
