ReplyWhether we know it or not, we ALL have gay friends/family. Even Dick Cheney supports same sex marriage! Why? Because he loves his daughter more than he hews to a rigid party line. I support same sex marriage because people I know and love are LGBTQ. The tipping point has occurred and our society has changed.

ReplyScott York told the Boy Scouts that he's deaf in one ear and can't hear with the other. One might be lead to believe from that statement that he thinks with an all Republican Board, he and the Supervisors don't need to listen, whether it's 2 minutes or more. They've got their marching orders from the extreme right wing of the Republican Party. The voice of Loudoun residents don't count.

ReplyWhen news media publicize such a serious incident, they are obligated to follow up on the story. The question of the teacher's BAC is crucial to this arrest. If the is insufficient evidence to convict this man, if he is innocent of this charge, how can he ever recover his reputation in the Loudoun community? Dusty Smith and Todd Richissin now have a heavy journalistic responsibility to keep their readers informed.

ReplyDon't worry about an income tax in Loudoun. Our BOS will not impose a new tax in Loudoun unless God commands it in the Loudoun Times-Mirror. Instead, they will take 2 cents from the property tax and cut the school budget another $16 million to match the BOE's budget cut. So we'll have lots of infrastructure construction business to dole out to the Friends of BOS, and a school systems that is sinking into mediocrity because of chronic underfunding. Great Plan!

ReplyThis gubernatorial election will again demonstrate that Virginia's voters are seeking a governor who will respond to the people's needs, and not the hyper-conservative ideology of a radical candidate.
The nattering nabobs of negativism spewing ad hominem attacks simply confirm the desparation of individuals who have no ability to share thoughtful commentary.

ReplyThank goodness for the powerful statesmanship of Speaker Howell! This kind of behind the back legislating has no place in Virginia"s legislature. Redistricting should be done by a non-partisan appointed council based on community boundaries, not the whims of politicians whose highest priority is being reelected.

ReplyYes, Virginia desperately needs transportation funding, but the source of this funds would most certainly threaten funding for public education and health care. The Governor may characterize these objections as “simply inaccurate,” but he has failed to refute them in any meaningful way.
Using a gas tax to fund transportation expenditures places the burden on the users, not on the children and those in need of medical care. It is a very appropriate way to raise funds for this urgent need. This is the "reasonable compromise" that will allow a bill to successfully navigate the General Assembly.
