Leesburg's First Friday Scheduled

The first 'First Friday' of the year will kick off tonight at 6 p.m. A number of events are planned.

It’s the first Friday of the month, which means it’s time for . Stroll around historic downtown Leesburg this evening and enjoy numerous live music performances throughout the town including:

Campaign Announcement
Former Loudoun County Supervisor and Leesburg Town Council member Kelly Burk for another seat on the council. The event will kick off at 6:30 p.m. in front of Leesburg's Town Hall. 

First Friday Wine Tasting & Art Show at the Visitors Center
Stop by the Visitors Center at Market Station during Leesburg's First Friday event to enjoy a free wine tasting from a Loudoun winery, refreshments, and a local art show. The event kicks off at 6 p.m. at 112 South St. SE, Suite G.

Live Music and Art.
is featuring a night of live music by guitarist, “Gary Rudinsky & Friends,” including Emma Rowley. The coffee shop’s “artist of the month” will be Steve Loya, who will have his “Splotch Monster Art” on display until the end of the month. These imaginary beasts made from paint, ink, coffee and tea are currently on exhibit in London and Greece and will be featured in the hugely popular Sticker Bomb book series, due out in October 2012. The event will kick off at 6 p.m. at 110 S. King St.

Rock Music with Wine
is featuring live music with the popular guitar duo, Jan & Jeff, performing from their wide repertoire of classic rock to contemporary to bluegrass and old standards. There will also be a wine tasting by North Gate Vineyard. The event will kick off at 7 p.m. at 16 S. King St.

Guitarist, Andrew Tufano
is featuring guitarist, Andrew Tufano, from Dominion High School, whose music is contemporary with a hint of blues, similar to John Mayer and multifaceted pop rock like Jason Mraz. The event will kick off at 7 p.m. at 10 S. King St.

Jazz Music
Sona Bank is hosting the “Lydia Lewis Jazz Trio,” which is an instrumental jazz group that performs mostly straight ahead jazz, with a mixture of swing, latin and funk. Light refreshments will be served. The event will kick off at 6:30 p.m. at 1 E. Market Street.

Barber Shop Quartet
is hosting live music by the Chorus of the Old Dominion, Loudoun County's premier a cappella chorus of men, singing in four part harmony. The event will kick off at 7:30 p.m. at 11 S. King Street.

Ballroom Dance Studio
The Dance King Studios is hosting a sneak peek of their social dance studio, which will be opening later this month. Owner and dancer, Adam King teaches lessons specializing in salsa, tango, swing and ballroom dance. Stop by to check out this up and coming new hot spot and welcome Adam to downtown. The event kicks off at 6 p.m. at 26 W. Market Street.

Art Exhibit
The Leesburg Commission on Public Art is hosting a new exhibit of watercolor paintings by Jill Poyerd, which will be on display in the on the first floor. The event will kick off at 6 p.m. at 25 W. Market Street.

Live Music
MacDowell Brew Kitchen, downtown's newest pub, is featuring singer/guitarist, Emily Guagliardi, singing her own original folksy, indie style songs, along with some cool cover tunes. The event will kick off at 7 p.m. at 202-B Harrison St.

Last Ham Standing-Comedy Show
Don't miss this for the entire family. A group of talented performers take suggestions from the audience to create wacky scenes and funny improv games. If you like ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’ you’ll love Last Ham Standing. The event begins at 8 p.m. at the . Tickets are $10 and $5 for children under 10.
