After Gunfire, Discharged Rounds Found in Two Homes 10 Miles apart

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office reports two separate incidents in which Leesburg-area residents heard distant gunfire and later found discharged rounds in their respective bedrooms the evening of Saturday, July 19.

Two incidents reportedly involving reckless handling of a firearm occurred Saturday, July 19 less than 10 miles apart in Lovettsville and Round Hill near Leesburg.

The first incident occurred at 7:45 p.m. at the 15700 block of Southern Cross Lane in Round Hill. The second incident occurred at 11:30 p.m. at the 20 block of Park Place in Lovettsville. 

In the first incident, a resident reported hearing gunfire from a wooded area around 7:45 p.m. when a round struck the side of the residence and entered the bedroom. 

In the second incident, a resident heard a loud noise around 11:30 p.m. believed to be fireworks and discovered a discharged round from a firearm the next day that had entered the bedroom window.

No injuries were reported and no suspects were located in either incident. It is unknown if the incidents are related.
